    What you’ll do
     

    We’re looking for a Cloud Architect (Customer Advisory (Presales)).



    You will: 

    • As part of the specialized SAS Strategy and Innovation team the Cloud Architect works with customers by providing cloud and technical architecture expertise in pre-sales situations.  We are looking for a hands-on Cloud Technical Architect who will be the key driver in helping position and define next-generation cloud-based AI, analytical and decision support solutions for SAS clients.  Merging your cloud expertise with knowledge of the latest cloud-enabled SAS platform, this role will be critical to architecting, demonstrating and proving SAS’ Cloud computing and DevOps capabilities and value of the SAS platform to our clients. 

    • Working with Account Executives and other Customer Advisory (presales) resources to provide the cloud and architecture expertise necessary to develop and support strategic and tactical plans for accounts and specific opportunities;

    • Participates or leads in defining proposed architectures (which could include SAS technologies and services with deployment options including customer`s on-premises infrastructure, private and public cloud) which will drive value for our clients;

    • Describing how the SAS solution could be deployed within the client’s cloud and technical environment;

    • Participating in and delivering presentations, workshops and briefings;

    • Developing and delivering complex technology proofs such as demonstrations and Proofs of Concepts;

    • Developing and communicating value propositions and business cases for the proposed architecture;

    • Supporting relevant components of formal proposals and RFP responses;

    • Develop and maintain product and technical knowledge for the SAS Platform;

    • Develop and maintain deep technical understanding of relevant cloud architectures (and vendors), and how the SAS Platform architects and deploys within these architectures)

    • Assisting in demand-generation activities;

    • Ensuring successful transition of the proposed technical requirements and capabilities from the Presales phase to the Implementation teams;

    • Maintain a high degree of familiarity with relevant emerging trends in technology and our client’s business environments.

    • Developing understanding of clients’ AI, analytical and decision support-related strategies, opportunities and requirements;Developing an understanding of clients’ current and future-state technical and cloud-related environments and strategies

    What we’re looking for 

    • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field (equivalent combination of additional expertise and advanced technical skills will be considered in place of this degree requirement)
    • Experience with large-scale, multi-platform enterprise systems, preferably focused around application hosting
    • Expert level knowledge of Linux along with design, install and administration or virtualized environments
    • Strong facilitation and communications skills. 
    • Should have clear understanding of cloud technologies and best practices.
    • Good problem solving, organizational, decision-making written, oral and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    • Travel as business requirements dictate at management discretion (typically 20%)

    Preferred Technical Skills and Knowledge:

    • 2+ years’ experience architecting and implementing systems using:
      • Amazon AWS, Microsoft Azure and/or OpenShift.
      • Git, GitLab, and/or Jenkins
      • Linux system scripting (Bash, Python, etc.), Microsoft PowerShell
      • Ansible
      • CI/CD technologies.
      • Docker and Kubernetes and related technologies
    • Thorough knowledge of cloud-based architectures and scalable, fault tolerant and high-performance distributed systems including IAAS, PAAS and Containers.
    • Deep understanding and hands-on knowledge of cloud deployment and monitoring tools
    • Deep understanding of service-oriented computing in the modern Cloud era (e.g. consuming services through code instead of creating, communicating with services via API's/REST/JSON and orchestrating multiple services in an application
    • Deep understanding of load balancing and scalability techniques
    • 8+ years’ experience deploying or selling complex enterprise platforms one of:
      • Technical sales (presales)
      • Enterprise/solution architecture
      • Consulting/delivery.
    • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal with internal and external stakeholders.
    • Self-starter who can operate independently to create process and solve problems.
    • High levels of proactivity, creativity, curiosity, self-motivation, and thirst for knowledge. Goal oriented, competitive.
    • Works effectively independently as well as in virtual and formal teams, takes ownership and shows leadership within the team and with client interaction and relationships.
    • Ideally, experience with technical sales methodologies, sales teams, and evidence of sales/sales support success.
