Responsible for developing, maintaining and executing marketing strategy and/or programs in support of company goals. Manages team to accomplish results through leading, planning, and implementing methods, strategies, and business initiatives. Leverages domain and industry expertise.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Serves as member of Asia Pacific Marketing leadership group responsible for determining overall marketing strategy for SAS products and services for the Market Geography
  • Directs the development of company marketing programs and services as relevant to the Japan market
  • Outlines the direction and company strategy working with the Marketing Leadership to be Globally Consistent but locally relevant
  • Creates shared visions and detailed plans with key stakeholders on how to maximize a given marketing function
  • Responsible for establishing and sustaining trusted relationships with clients/customers, subcontractors, and aligned SAS front line (Sales, Services, Advisory, L&C) and operational functions (HR, Finance, IT, et al), respectively
  • Responsible for motivating individuals towards higher levels of performance that are aligned with the organisations vision and values, building a strong team culture of collaboration and achievement
  • Responsible for leadership and execution of the Go-to-Market marketing plans (integrated marketing mix with a blend of on-line and off line activities) in partnership with the Marketing Shared Services leadership, which includes digital(social, SEO, et al), Content(translation, syndication), communications(media, analysts), advocacy/retention marketing, ABM, Alliances & Channels
  • Identifies marketing opportunities through market research, customer feedback, analytics and best practices aligned to the corporate direction
  • Works with AP Marketing Leadership to measure manage and report on the Japan Marketing performance against targets/objectives using the systems of record
  • Uses analytics to provide key business insights for data driven decision making
  • Provides strategic and tactical leadership for marketing plan development, implementation, and support
  • Delivers measurable results in impacting broader company goals and organizational objectives
  • Performs all functions related to leading and managing a dynamic team, including: determining resource needs and making requests for personnel, equipment, and other resources; recruiting, interviewing, and selecting new employees; setting and communicating performance standards and providing performance feedback and coaching; encouraging and fostering skill development and professional growth
  • Creates a learning and development path for each of the Marketing team members in Japan, ensuring they are keeping pace professionally with Market knowledge and demands
  • Prepares and adheres to budgets, providing forecast accuracy aligned to a rolling integrated marketing plan
  • Upholds the SAS Brand values, building them into the fabric of the team culture and the way in which business is done

Additional Responsibilities

  • Ensures that operational rigor is applied to the use of the processes and systems of record
  • Works in complex and diverse markets to drive revenue growth related to market potential
  • Identifies current practices and emerging trends in area of marketing functional expertise
  • Reviews and approves plans for marketing projects development, implementation, and support
  • Acts as a liaison between department or division and internal and external parties that influence overall marketing strategies
  • Represents SAS with third party vendors and partners to support marketing objectives and goals
  • Advises, coaches and guides team members on developing, managing and motivating fellow colleagues


The ideal candidate:

  • Has at least ten years of experience in modern Marketing, preferably in the software technology industry, ideally with understanding of cloud technology and marketing
  • Proven track record as a strong leader of people and business with a focus on collaboration and building value-based business partnerships across functions with at least five years of leadership and/or management experience.
  • Must have strong understanding of digital marketing principles, that is modern marketing experience implementing a digitally-led integrated marketing mix, blending on-line and off line activities into a dynamic revenue focused set of programs.
  • Has knowledge of marketing and sales techniques, channels, business partner relationship development strategies, and/or knowledge of a specific industry, market, technology, or business initiative related to area of assignment
  • Graduated with a Bachelor's Degree, preferably in Business, Marketing, Computer Science, or other related field.
  • Is strong in written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Proactive in confronting difficult issues; making valiant choices and taking bold action in the face of opposition or fear
  • Has public speaking experience
