Overview

SAS Japan is looking for a highly collaborative Financial analyst that can analyze business arrangements to provide accounting guidance and operational direction. This individual should have experience with financial forecast, business partnering with Consulting Service organizations and be comfortable with ambiguity. Capability of developing financial model based on the communication with the business department, such Consulting and Sales will be key to help appropriate business decision making by the business leaders. The role requires the ability to understand the big picture as well as deconstruct the underlying details. The ideal candidate takes initiative, is excited for big challenges and is comfortable presenting a position to a variety of stakeholders.

 

This position reports to the Sr Finance Manager, who ultimately owns responsibility for all the financial area/subject to be covered. The Financial Analyst may leverage various 3rd party resources including tax firm for advisory expertise & financials as well as audit firm for report preparation and compilation.

 

Responsibilities

Financial Analysis and General Accounting Duties

  • Assist in preparation of financial results and analysis presented to senior management.
  • Work closely with business leaders to help develop effective and efficient financial model
  • Build and maintain relationships with internal partners across various SAS business teams as well as SAS HQ Finance.
  • Participate and collaborate in cross team projects. Work closely with Corporate Services, IT, project managers and other business partners to ensure that processes are scalable and compliant.
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting policies, and reporting requirements

 

Statutory Responsibilities

  • Managing relationship with our outsourced service provider for outsourced statutory accounting processes, ensuring on-going pertinence and compliance with local statutory requirements
  • Responsible for managing SAS Japan legal entity balance sheet, including management and review of balance sheet account reconciliations
  • Reviewing local systems and financial controls to ensure appropriate design & implementation and effectiveness, including continual review as the business continues to evolve
  • Maintain effective relationship with our professional tax and accounting advisors leveraging these relationships to mitigate financial and compliance risk
  • Management of an efficient statutory audit process, working closely with tax & accounting firms to ensure timely completion and filing of the annual statutory accounts. Provide additional support with other internal and external audits
  • Supporting the Sr Finance Manager and responding to ad-hoc requests
  • Identify, recommend and implement process improvements to support improved controls and simpler accounting
  • Participate in companywide projects in support accounting change and procedures

Qualifications

 Work Experience

  • 3+ years’ working/hands-on knowledge and skills of ERP systems such as Oracle required
  • 5+ years’ demonstrated experience in Accounting and/or Revenue, OPEX control roles
  • Business Analysis/Business Partnership experience preferred.
  • Strong competencies in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint
  • Must be a self-starter, well organized, adaptable, and able to multi-task and work well under fast-paced and high pressure environment
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with cross-functional teams
  • Strong communication, cross group collaboration and interpersonal skills
  • Business Analysis/Business Partnership experience preferred.
  • IT industry experience plus.

 

Education

  • BA/BS required (MBA plus)
  • US CPA, Japanese native, and English fluent, preferred. (TOEFL 800 or higher)
