What you’ll do

As part of the SAS Fraud and Security Intelligence practice you will be working in small focused team in London or Glasgow as part of a larger global team. Day to day we support clients and local SAS teams around the world as well as R&D and Product Management in solving problems in Fraud, AML and Public Security.

For the right candidate this role offers the opportunity to develop skills in a broad range of areas including:

  • The latest SAS Viya technology stack such as distributed in memory analytics and real-time event processing as well as Elasticsearch, Kafka, Docker, Kubernetes;
  • Programming languages and frameworks such as Golang, Typescript, HTML, Angular, React;
  • Methodologies for identifying and investigating fraud, waste, abuse and general criminal activity across a range of industries and international clients;
  • Cloud Service Providers such as Microsoft Azure to facilitate the development and delivery of Fraud, AML and Public security solutions
  • The role also includes the opportunity for regular international travel enabling and supporting projects for major global clients.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Analyse the requirements of the solution component and work closely with customers, R&D and team members to ensure consistency and reusability of output.
  • Provide support, consultancy and enablement to SAS project teams in deliveries making use of the developed Solutions.
  • Work on the development of specific Solutions servicing the needs of projects with high profile banking, insurance, government, and healthcare clients worldwide.
  • Design and develop innovative solutions to business requirements in alignment with product architecture, and established development practices and timelines.
  • Communicate technical and design issues with other developers, managers, users or customers whenever necessary to achieve the best solution.
  • Understand the role of data in an analytical fraud solution ensuring the retention of information and validity of the output.
  • Ensure good practice in standard software engineering principles including using tools to ensure successful collaborative working (version control, task tracking etc.).
  • Travel 20-50% of the time, where global teams require assistance.

What we’re looking for

The team is looking for motivated and ambitious consultants with an interest in starting their career in the rapidly growing fields of analytics and fraud detection. For the right candidate we are willing to consider a wide range of experience from graduate to experienced professional.

  • A high quality degree in a technical or numerate subject, especially mathematics, physics or computer science.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem solving skills.
  • An interest in technology and coding, and how it can be applied to problem solving (ideally backed up with programming experience).
  • A “self-starter” who will show creativity and initiative to make things happen with self-management skills.
  • A desire to broaden their skills base and work across multiple disciplines (e.g. development, fraud domain expertise, professional services, analytics)
  • Willingness to travel.

Other knowledge, skills, and abilities needed

  • Experience in software development using Object Orientated and/or Functional languages.
  • Previous data analysis experience using SAS, Python, R, MATLAB or equivalent
  • Data management experience using SQL, Hadoop, S3 or Bigquery.
  • Experience in the use of software development tools such as Git & JIRA as well as CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, Docker and Kubernetes
  • Experience in web technologies – Golang, Typescript, HTML, Angular, React
  • Experience in using cloud service providers such as Azure, AWS and the Google Cloud Platform.
  • Experience with Cloud service providers
