Are you a problem solver, explorer, and knowledge seeker – always asking, “What if?”

If so, then you may be the new team member we’re looking for. Because at SAS, your curiosity matters – whether you’re developing algorithms, creating customer experiences, or answering critical questions. Curiosity is our code, and the opportunities here are endless.

What we do

We’re the leader in analytics. Through our software and services, we inspire customers around the world to transform data into intelligence. Our curiosity fuels innovation, pushing boundaries, challenging the status quo and changing the way we live.

SAS Scotland R&D is a high-performing research and product development division based in Glasgow, working on cutting-edge technologies and products in a number of key industries.

Our work spans numerous domains, including Law Enforcement, Intelligence and Investigation Management, Child Protection, Fraud and Security Intelligence, Data Management, IOT, Enterprise Decisioning, and Financial Risk.

Our focus is on making a real-world impact, whether that be by helping users make better sense of their data; by allowing analytics to be used by more and more people; by detecting fraud and risk for our customers; by uncovering insights on edge devices and sensors; or much more.

About our internship program

Developing talented people at the beginning of their careers is part of our core ethos. In fact, 40% of our staff started out as graduates or interns!

We are continually bringing new talent into our organization. Every year, SAS Scotland R&D brings in a small number of interns to work with us for 10-12 weeks.

We are looking for interns for various roles:

  • Software Development
  • Testing and Automation
  • Product Management
  • Technical Product Support

We see the internship program as an invaluable source of bright new talent – successful internships often result in job offers to return full-time after graduation.

As an intern at SAS, you have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on our customers' lives.

Our interns are integrated into product teams from Day 1, working on real releases for real customers.

As an intern, you can expect to:

  • Triage and fix bugs in our products
  • Implement new product features
  • Take part in code reviews
  • Work with product management on requirements
  • Work with UX and UI designers
  • Draft up technical specs and designs
  • Improve automation and pipeline integration
  • Meet the highest standards of product quality
  • Work in an Agile and CI/CD team
  • Experience every aspect of the product development process
  • Learn from the highest calibre of talented and experienced R&D staff
  • Make a real difference – and get paid while doing it.

What we’re looking for

Students of STEM Faculties who:

  • Represent SAS' values: Curiosity, Authenticity, Passion, and Accountability
  • Are open and willing to learn
  • Want to make a difference
  • For dev, testing, and support candidates:
    • Have good programming skills, in at least 1 modern programming language
    • Are familiar with basic computing concepts

Why SAS

  • We love living the #SASlife and believe that happy, healthy people have a passion for life, and bring that energy to work. No matter what your specialty or where you are in the world, your unique contributions will make a difference.
  • Our multi-dimensional culture blends our different backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives. Here, it isn’t about fitting into our culture, it’s about adding to it - and we can’t wait to see what you’ll bring.
