What you’ll do

We’re looking for a IoT Industry Consultant to serves as our customers & partners digital transformation advisor.  Success is measured through the ability to convince business decision makers to use SAS Advanced Analytics, SAS IoT technologies, Cloud and Edge. You will partner closely with all types of IoT customers, partners, and stakeholders in all stages of the sales cycle, from envisioning, through go-to-market and deployment.


This role requires a resourceful, multi-talented individual that enjoys working with ever changing technology and business models - and isn’t intimidated by ambiguity.  In this role, you’ll be a member of an eclectic team whose primary purpose is the collective success of our internal and external customers and partners as they exploit the IoT as a means of driving meaningful business outcomes.  As a charter member in this newly formed division, you’ll be asked to wear many hats – helping sell one day, enabling channel partners another, and building out innovative IoT assets the next.  In a nutshell, you will need to do whatever is necessary to make our offerings and customers successful.

Our IoT Industry Consultant relies on extensive industry/business domain expertise and networks to drive strategic industry, solution, and technology positioning and messaging in our target markets. They act as a front-line spokesperson with internal and external audiences.


You will:


  • Use expertise to develop/support operable and cost-effective solutions, review solution blueprints, estimates, conceptual designs, and/or other deliverables
  • Participate in industry organizations and marketing events related to functional, technical or industry area of expertise in order to enhance the SAS brand recognition
  • Participate in projects/programs focused on delivering agreed business outcomes for our partners and customers
  • Provide/implement the strategy to understand and translate business requirements into technology solutions
  • Incorporate Industry, Function, and/or Business expertise into recommended solutions
  • Partner with SAS partners and customers to understand the dynamic of value creation for the business solution
  • Analyse as-is and to-be processes to define system/technology requirements and bridge the gap between technology and the business


What we’re looking for

  • At least 3 years hands-on experience with IoT platforms such as AWS IoT, Azure IoT, PTC Thingworx or Google Cloud IoT – on both cloud and edge. 
  • At least 3 years hands-on experience integrating public cloud PaaS services: storage, analytics, data ingestion, serverless pipelines, etc.
  • You’re curious, passionate, authentic, and accountable. These are our values and influence everything we do.


The nice to haves

  • At least 3 years’ experience in Data Science, including the use of Python for Machine Learning and Deep Learning.
  • At least 3 years as a software engineer with experience on one or more of the following C, Python, JavaScript, Node.JS, Node Red, Java, Scala, C, Erlang, Elixir, Container technologies Docker, Kubernetes, Distributed messaging Kafka, RabbitMQ.

  • Solution Expert: Deep understanding of unique solution area value, key areas of differentiation, and knowledge to create industry-centric use cases for the solution area.
  • Business Value Seller: Proven record of effective account management, particularly demonstrating coupling business acumen with technology knowledge, to connect customer business challenges to their technology decisions and coaching the customer through business case creation, approval, and stakeholder buy-in.
  • Technical Acumen: Experienced at driving solutions to full production roll out and solving technical challenges encountered through the project implementation. Strong synthesizer of tools, services, and resources with own expertise to build complete end to end solutions.
  • Audience Credibility:Has credibility with key decision makers within our customers. Ability to influence target decision makers such as Business Decision Makers, Operational Technology Leaders, Data Scientist etc.
  • Social Seller:Builds a strong and active network
  • Knowledge of Cloud Platform:Strong understanding of Cloud Platforms (infrastructure components, security) and its Analytics capabilities and role it plays in IoT solutions.
  • Addressing Industry Scenarios with Technology:Demonstrated effectiveness in landing technology scenarios in industry-relevant ways and credibility to lead and influence niche industry conversations.
  • Partner Knowledge:Strong understanding of the IoT partner ecosystem and the ability to leverage partner solutions to solve customer needs
