As a member of SAS Pune R&D User Experience team, we are looking for a talented and creative visual designer to shape up and enhance the user interface design of SAS's analytics solutions. As a visual designer, you will collaborate with a cross-functional teams, including UX designers, engineers, and product managers. Making use of color, shapes, typography, and the best practices of SAS visual design principles, design visual aesthetics of web-based applications, mobile applications, desktop software, graph components, and other SAS software products. To be successful as a visual designer, you should exhibit an ability and experience to design aesthetically pleasing interfaces that meets with SAS's brand value and engage our users.


Ability to write effective specifications of the visual elements and produce high-fidelity click through mock-ups that communicate visual design for a product’s interface. Creates and maintains SAS Style Guides for applications and report themes. Uses current versions of HTML/CSS, Objective-C, and/or other scripting/programming languages as needed. The responsibility also includes ensuring visual consistency within a multi-application suite; creating and maintaining SAS standards; evaluating new trends, collaborating with larger visual design team at SAS headquarters and other duties as assigned.

  • Detail understanding of typography and the emotional qualities it brings about on screen.
  • Can exhibit a wide range of graphic styles to express the needs and experience of a digital product.
  • Detail understanding and experience of CSS2 and CSS3
  • Deep understanding of the possibilities and limitations of the translation between code and graphic design.
  • Design creation using image processing tools like Photoshop, Illustrator, Dreamweaver, Flash/Flex, Microsoft office
  • Development of functional prototypes using technologies/languages like HTML/Flash.
  • Application of UI guidelines for relevant development platforms like Windows, Swing and Eclipse.
  • Working Knowledge of HTML, HTML5, CSS3
  • Familiar with UI guidelines for relevant development platforms like Windows, Swing and Eclipse.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and presentation skills


Primary responsibilities-

  • Produces design solutions for SAS software that incorporate design standards and comply with current industry trends. Works collaboratively with business stakeholders and the user experience designers to ensure visual designs satisfy market and customer expectations.
  • Works in cross functional teams to translate functional requirements into system design. Designs, develops, and documents high level and detailed mockups and/or prototypes to effectively communicate visual designs, which ensures branded and visually appealing UIs. Ensures design solutions meet best practices, including accessibility, internationalization, and corporate standards.
  • Partners with development and testing teams to ensure visual designs are implemented correctly. Work in cross functional teams within Scrum environment. Work with the larger visual design group located at headquarters to ensure the app adheres to established standards.
  • Conduct usability studies, consolidate findings, and reflect them in visual designs. Lead design reviews to present your work to other members of the team, and revise the design based on feedback. Take an active part in creation, maintenance, and implementation of visual design standards and guidelines.
  • Maintain visual consistency within a multi-application suite. Create and enhance style guides. Evaluate new technologies.
  • Gains appropriate levels of proficiency with industry standard software and design tools to support visual design activities. Stays abreast of visual design trends and technological advancements in the industry.


Additional responsibilities-


  • Works on a single product or product suite with limited scope of influence.
  • Contributes to the style guide to document visual design standards with guidance from senior team members
  • Take existing SAS visual design and branding standards and write CSS/LESS to translate the visual design to working code
  • Create icons and assets for use in application

Education and essentials-


  • Bachelor’s degree in Visual & Communication Design, Graphic Design or related subject. Bachelor or master’s degree in digital and/or Print design, Visual design, Visual Communication
  • 2 years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Portfolio with examples of design work
  • Expertise in Adobe creative suite, Figma, Mural
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and presentation skills

Note: educational background could be compensated with relevant field experience; working experience of at least 2 to 3 years in in the industry for visual design,
