What You’ll Do


We are looking for an operations engineer, based in the UK, with experience operating SAS software on SAS platforms who is: proactive, has excellent problem-solving skills and a drive for continuous improvement.


You will be coming in to a new and developing team in SAS UK&I and have the chance to help to shape how we work and work for a variety of customers day-to-day, from banks and government departments, to sports and TV networks. You will expand your skills by providing support across a range of SAS platforms and suites of software, building out assets and processes that can be re-used globally to support all SAS customers.


Key Activities & Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for answering requests for information on how the SAS applications have been implemented for each customer i.e. questions on configuration and bespoke elements such as validation and business rules
  • Responsible for root cause analysis and suggesting solution options to the customers based on findings
  • Responsible for fixing and testing solutions to production issues to the SAS applications for each customer and verify that the customers are satisfied with the outcome
  • Responsible for applying standard changes to the SAS applications such as updating business data or configuration of the SAS applications for our customers
  • Responsible for Problem Management i.e. look to mitigate recurring and potential issues that may occur for all our customers
  • Responsible for keeping any technical documentation about the SAS applications up to date for all our customers
  • Responsible for applying regular hotfixes, SAS licences and certificates
  • Champion continuous improvement as part of the way that they work
  • Champion automation of operational activities and creation of re-usable assets for re-use on all our current and future projects
  • Champion collaborative working across the SAS internal teams


Required Skills/Experience:

  • Experience of using SAS software on the 9.4 platform
  • Experience in problem solving issues and implementing solutions to those issues in SAS
  • Release management experience
  • Platform administration experience
  • Fulfil requirements for SC clearance i.e. have been UK resident for 5 or more years


Desirable Skills/Attributes

  • BPSS or SC cleared
  • Experience as part of a technical operations team
  • Experience of using SAS software on SAS Viya
  • Experience installing SAS software
  • ITIL foundation


This remote role, working during UK business hours and will involve periodic travel to customer site.


This is a 6-month contract role, inside IR35, with the possibility for extension. Starting as soon as possible.
