What you’ll do

The SAS Cloud Business Operations team is looking for an experienced Technical Communicator. In this role, you will be part of team that provides internal and external customers with documentation and technology solutions needed to deliver successful customer experiences.  You will design, develop, and manage solution delivery life-cycle documentation for a variety of SAS solutions including, but not limited to, system design specifications, user guides, requirements documents, and process documentation. You are a motivated and collaborative individual with excellent communication skills, enjoy problem solving, and have a natural curiosity to ask, why? and What if?

 

Primary Responsibilities

  • Create and review information products and recommend revisions to scope, format, and content.
  • Standardize written and visual material prepared by others to ensure it is branded, complete, and ready for delivery to end users, including customers.
  • Provide front-end administrative support for digital workflow, document management, and issue tracking tools, such as ServiceNow and SharePoint.
  • Organize information products for order, clarity, conciseness, style, and terminology.
  • Verify document quality and consistency for all customer documents by following SAS documentation best practices.
  • Verify document integrity through version control.
  • Collaborate with other team members to review existing materials and recommend revisions in format or content.
  • Develop and maintain templates, as well as template indexes, to ensure they are current and aligned with best practices.
  • Manage multiple concurrent projects, prioritize under pressure, and work independently.

 What we’re looking for

  • 6 to 15 years of experience in a technical writer or similar role.
  • Ability to bring cross-functional teams together to complete documentation creation, review, approval, and delivery.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and work on multiple projects.
  • Ability to identify problems, devise solutions, and drive outcomes.

The nice to haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Technical Communications, English, Information Technology, or other appropriate field of study OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience with Atlassian tools (Jira and Confluence).
  • Visual design experience (presentations, graphics, flow charts, Web design, Photoshop).

Other knowledge, skills, and abilities

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Expertise in documentation development life cycle.
  • Experience collaborating and communicating with diverse teams.
  • Experience with version control and using style guides.
  • Expertise with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
