About the job

 

The Education, Training and Development team is looking for a Technical Training Consultant to design, develop and deliver standard and custom advanced technical training courses.  The primary technology focus areas will be SAS Visual Analytics and associated web development including the Data-Driven Content object, report package, and the SAS Viya SDK.

 

Your responsibilities will include building and leading enablement mentoring sessions for customers, partners, and/or employees.  You will be responsible for creating technical documents and instructional videos; as well as hands-on exercises to support technical education.

 

 

As a Technical Training Consultant, you will:

  • Developing enablement artifacts including documents, presentations, blog posts, videos, user exercises and training courses in support of the SAS Visualization digital, classroom ready and live web audiences.
  • Conducting training or custom mentoring sessions in support of developed artifacts to a variety of experienced users.
  • The role requires extensive research into the focus areas to maintain existing training assets and identify potentially new training asset topics related to these areas and their application to real world business scenarios.
  • Understanding, utilizing and communicating internally and externally best practice methodologies and industry standards within the Visualization area.
  • Working with fellow consultants, architects, and other technical staff for cross-training and knowledge transfer.
  • Building a trusted relationship with internal and external customers to provide practical guidance in the functional and technical aspects of proposed software and set proper expectations to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Participating in product and solution training to acquire and maintain a detailed level of product knowledge of core SAS offerings and components.
  • Actively build and manages relationships remotely and on location with key development and delivery stakeholders in R&D, Product Management, Practice, Pre-Sales and supporting services to ensure relevant, modern, useable, and useful assets in the curriculum area of responsibility assigned.
  • Providing functional and performance related troubleshooting assistance for active delivery projects.
  • Keeping well-informed of trends in the related and competitive marketplace.

 

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Real world experience designing reports using SAS visualization software and/or other product suites.
  • Experience in using web development technologies and how to integrate with SAS Viya environments, such as CORS, CSRF, HTML, JavaScript, React, etc.
  • Experience in requirements gathering, creating data mart and data structures to support report design for cross industry needs.
  • Exposure to open-source visualization products and concepts, such as Python, R, Java, etc.
  • The ability to communicate ideas, technical concepts, and best practices to an international audience.
  • A strong understanding of system integration concepts that affect SAS implementation projects.
  • A proven success record in visualization projects.
  • A strong practical knowledge of SAS reporting capabilities, foundational technologies, and report data structure requirements.
  • Performing other duties, as assigned.

Work Location

 

Position is open to work in SAS global offices based on where the candidate is eligible to work.

 

Required qualifications

  • 5 years of experience in the design, development, and implementation of customer-focused visualization and business intelligence initiatives.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business or other technical, analytical or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years progressive experience in the technology industry including extensive experience with consulting services or software pre-sales experience
  • Ability to develop and maintain relationships with various partners within SAS, as well as external to SAS.
  • Ability to travel, both domestic and international, as business needs dictate.
  • An equivalent combination of related education, training and experience may be considered in place of the above qualifications.

 

Preferred qualifications

  • Demonstrated Visualization/Business Intelligence industry knowledge/thought leadership and the ability to paint a vision of how SAS Visualization and customized web application integration products fit within prospective client environments through familiarity with industry best practices/trends.
  • Comprehensive understanding of SAS Visualization products.
  • Successfully collaborated with internal divisions as well as external customers to drive value for SAS and the customer.
