Germany SAS

The consultant will provide consulting services, including solution development, implementation and closeout.   And s/he will work with other SAS business units to implement and support production systems.


Primary Responsibilities

  • Works and collaborates with others on consulting projects and special projects as assigned.
  • Play the role of an SME on projects and ramp up activities for the team
  • Provides reliable delivery of targeted project results through role as expert in the application of specific SAS methodologies, projects and technologies.
  • Understands, utilizes and communicates best practice methodologies and industry standards internally and externally.
  • Configures SAS software solutions and any required supporting products for knowledge sharing and demonstration purposes as assigned.
  • Participates in product and solution training to acquire and maintain a detailed level of product knowledge of core components of SAS offerings.
  • Leverages detailed domain and technical knowledge to support sales opportunities and implementations across solution domains.


No / very limited domestic and international travel as business demands


Additional Responsibilities

  • Acts as an SME/project technical lead as assigned.
  • Scopes and defines work effort, resource plan, and estimate costs on phase/project.
  • Builds a trusted relationship with the Account Executive and client account to provide practical guidance in the functional and technical aspects of proposed software and set proper expectations to ensure customer satisfaction.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities


  • Strong risk domain knowledge primarily in Banking industry
  • Strong knowledge of regulations like IFRS 9, CECL, Stress Testing, FRTB, Basel, CCAR etc. and regulator risk topics like RWA, EPE, Leverage Ratio, SACCR etc.
  • Risk analytical modeling experience is a must
  • Experience of working with the output of finance and risk systems
  • Communication skills at all levels including ability to interact successfully with global stakeholders outside team
  • Good product knowledge and good understanding of Risk management tools and techniques
  • Strong analytical skills to identify the scope of issues and ability to provide appropriate solutions
  • Good knowledge of financial products across various asset classes
  • Good problem solving, organizational, decision-making written, oral and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to relate technical concepts to SAS System applications and user needs.
  • Ability to conceptualize clients’ needs and translate into specific implementation strategies



  • SAS Risk Solutions - Implementation, Configuration & Development – including in the Risk or Banking domain – highly preferred
  • SAS Technologies – Data Management/Integration, BI/Visualization and Architecture – highly preferred
  • Hands on experience in similar data & analytics technology for risk management a must
  • OS Administration
  • Databases
  • Web Development
  • Risk Solutions – some combination of Credit Scoring for Banking, Credit Risk Mgmt, Basel, MRM, Stress Testing ( eg.  SAS RFWB )
  • Experience / exposure to SAS Risk Dimensions (or equivalent) highly desired
  • Experience building Risk models
  • SAS Technologies: SAS Programming, DI Studio, VA, SAS Platform Architecture, BI Architecture highly preferred
  • Database: Oracle,  SQL Server, Postgres, DB2 or Teradata
  • Background & experience in Banking & Financial Services domain - experience in Risk (credit, market or Op risk) and/or Regulatory Compliance required
  • Working knowledge of at least two databases such as Oracle, SQL Server, Postgres, DB2 or Teradata
  • Strong risk domain knowledge primarily in Banking industry

  • Good to have (equivalent technology experience a must) :
  • Experience with Base SAS and Advanced SAS programming
  • Exposure to Data Warehousing concepts preferably using SAS DI Technologies - ETL & BI/VA/Reporting
  • Experience working with SAS Administration (SMC)
  • Experience working with designing report in SAS VA
  • General Web Development Experience  - Groovy/Javascript, HTML programming and XML
  • Knowledge of SAS Architecture and OS (Linux and Windows) basics
