The SAS Cloud and Information Services team is looking for a Technical Architect for the SAS Cloud team in SAS’s Cloud and Information Services (CIS) division, you will be responsible for all aspects of our data management systems in SAS Cloud.
You will be coming into a new and biggest growth area in SAS global. You will and have the chance to help to shape how we work in region while working for a variety of customers day-to-day.
The Technical Architect - Design Authority (DA) serves as the technical lead responsible for ensuring the integrity, alignment, and quality of Application and Technical Architectures across cloud and managed service engagements. Acting as a strategic bridge between sales, business development and technical execution, the TDA defines and governs order to operation standards and ensures that all technical deliverables meet performance, security, and compliance expectations.
As a Cloud Technical Architect, you will:
- Analyzes all information gathered during the sales cycle to provide technical requirements and, working collaboratively with delivery technical lead or delivery technical architect, to translate sales technical vision into a detailed technical implementation proposal.
- Scopes and defines work effort, supports resource planning and estimates cost on technical aspects of the project. Conducts project requirements gathering.
- Delivers standard and/or customized software demonstrations and presentations outlining the technical features, competitive advantages and business benefits of the SAS software as they apply to client needs.
- Builds a trusted relationship with the Account Executive and client account to provide practical guidance in the functional and technical aspects of proposed software and set proper expectations to ensure customer satisfaction
- Provides reliable delivery of targeted project results through role as expert in the application of specific SAS methodologies, projects and technologies.
- Leverages detailed technical knowledge to support sales opportunities and implementations across solution domains.
- May perform advanced or complex prototyping for SAS foundation technologies.
- Installs SAS software solutions and any required supporting products for knowledge sharing and demonstration purposes as assigned.
- May conduct pre-sales implementations to prove functional capabilities, including on-site support as required.
- May assist in the response to RFI/RFPs utilizing the RFP Repository and crafting thorough and compelling answers.
- Strategizes with sales team to provide functional and technical leadership for sales opportunities.
- Looks for opportunities to expand a tactical service into something strategic for SAS and the client, utilizing SAS Technical Support to facilitate responses to issues that may impact a sales opportunity.
- Understands, utilizes and communicates best practice methodologies and industry standards internally and externally.
- Provides support for user group events and trade shows.
- Works proactively with Systems Engineers for the purpose of cross-training and knowledge transfer.
- Participates in design process.
- Able to install/configure SAS solutions and products
- Produce excellent customer documentation
- Interact with Technical Support to verify and discuss issues around specific architectures at client sites
- Ensure all applicable security policies and processes are followed to support the organization's secure software development goals.

Required qualifications
- Minimum 5+ years of system engineering, project management, applications development, technical architecture and design and/or customer support.
- Bachelor's degree, preferably in Business, Computer Science, or related field.
- Proven experience in technical architecture or design authority roles within cloud or managed services environments.
- Proven experience in design and estimating support role.
- Strong understanding of architecture and IT service management frameworks.
- Strong understanding of designing cloud-native solutions across Azure, AWS, or hybrid environments.
- Experience with CICD pipelines, infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, Ansible), and container orchestration.
- Excellent communication, presentation and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong documentation and governance capabilities.
- Proficiency in ServiceNow, MS Office & Atlassian Jira/Confluence
- Strategic thinker with a pragmatic approach to technical problem-solving.
- Collaborative and adaptable, with the ability to lead cross-functional teams.
- Committed to continuous learning and professional development.
- Comfortably operate in a global, fast-paced environment.
- Confidence to make pragmatic technical decisions even in the context of limited data for decision making

- Azure or AWS Architecture/Administrative certification
- Experience in public sector, regulated environments or data boundary restrictions
- Familiarity with SAS Viya architecture and deployment models.
