What you’ll do
We’re looking for a Database Administrator for the SAS Managed Cloud Services (MCS) team in SAS’s Cloud and Information Services division, you will be responsible for all aspects of our data management systems in SAS MCS.
As a Data Platform Administrator for RDMBS, you will be responsible for operations of our hosted data platform environment in SAS MCS. You will work collaboratively with support, analysts, developers and other implementation team members to maintain operational integrity of our database installations and to manage, diagnose, debug, and maintain SAS and third-party enterprise class software systems. You will support SAS MCS with expertise, mentoring and best practices with respect to data platform technology and architecture.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Mandatory - This is 24x7x365 shift based role and team members would need to work in required shift as per roster.
- Mandatory - Participate in a 24x7x365 on-call rotation as per business demand.
- Operational management and monitoring of various Data Platform systems.
- Perform upgrades, scripting, task automation, backups/recovery
- Creating and maintaining engineering documents and system designs
- Maintain appropriate written documentation for operational procedures and system design
- Experience with monitoring systems and diagnostic tools
- SQL and performance tuning at all levels
- Adherence and enforcement of security standards and policies
- Ability to learn other data platform technologies (Snowflake, Kafka, etc.) as supported by the SAS MCS Data Platform team
- Multi-tasking in a hosting and production support driven environment
- Serve as technical escalation and support other team members.
- Contribute to overall service quality by identifying and /or improving the customer experience with SAS MCS.
What we’re looking for:
- 2 to 12 years of technical hands-on experience in Oracle or PostgreSQL Database Technology as Database Administrator.
- Experience with 3rd party tools such as SQL Developer, pgAdmin or other design and database access products
- Experience with OCI (Oracle Cloud Infra), Microsoft Azure or AWS
- Experience with Ansible, Python, PERL or other shell/batch scripting languages
- Proficiency in Linux/Unix and Windows Operating Systems
- Experience with Kafka and Snowflake will be added advantage.

Preferences:
- Experience with Oracle Enterprise Manager/Oracle Cloud Control
- Experience with Oracle Data Guard or other database replication solutions
- Experience with Oracle Exadata, Oracle RAC or other HA database solutions
- Experience with PL/SQL or another database procedural language
- Experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS) including RDS, S3 etc.
- Experience with SAS software
Equivalency:
- Equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant experience may be considered in place of the requirements stated above.
- The level of this position will be determined based on the applicant's education, skills and experience.
