About the job

The SAS Cloud Managed Services team is looking for a Cloud Platform & DevOps Engineer to join the SAS Cloud team in SAS’s Cloud and Information Services division. You will be responsible for managing, deploying, and operating application platforms in a multi-cloud environment (primarily Microsoft Azure, alongside AWS).

 

In this role, you will own cloud infrastructure engineering functions, containerized application deployments, Kubernetes cluster management, and operational automation workflows.

 

You'll work in a shift-based environment supporting international clients, managing multi-cloud infrastructure (Azure & AWS), Kubernetes clusters, and automation workflows while collaborating across global teams.

 

As a Cloud Platform & DevOps Engineer, you will:

 

  • Container Orchestration & Deployment: Build, optimize, and manage Docker images; deploy, scale, and maintain applications across Kubernetes clusters.
  • Cloud Infrastructure Management: Design, provision, and maintain resilient cloud infrastructure on Microsoft Azure and AWS.
  • Automation & Scripting: Write and maintain automation scripts in Python and Bash to streamline operational tasks and infrastructure management.
  • Workflow Management: Configure, monitor, and maintain orchestration pipelines using Apache Airflow.
  • System Monitoring & Reliability: Perform Linux system administration, configure system reliability monitoring using Datadog, and resolve complex production incidents.
  • Operational Excellence: Provide technical support for global clients, handle incidents and task tracking using ServiceNow, Jira, and Confluence, and update operational runbooks.
  • Ensure security policies are followed and test production fixes for customer satisfaction
  • Ensure all applicable security policies and processes are followed to support the organization's secure software development goals.

Required qualifications

 

  • 5+ years of experience as a Cloud Engineer, DevOps Engineer, or Platform Engineer.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Kubernetes & Docker: Strong hands-on experience with containerization (Docker image creation) and container orchestration (Kubernetes management and deployment).
  • Cloud Platforms: Solid expertise in Microsoft Azure (primary) and AWS.
  • Linux & Scripting: Hand-on experience in Unix/Linux administration and strong scripting skills (Python & Bash).
  • Monitoring & Workflows: Experience with Datadog (or similar monitoring tools) and workflow orchestration platforms like Apache Airflow.
  • Operations: Experience working with ITSM and task tracking tools (ServiceNow, Jira, Confluence), with comfort working in shift-based models supporting global teams.
  • Proficiency in Unix/Linux administration
  • Proof of right to work in work location
  • Equivalent combination of related education, training and experience may be considered in place of the above qualifications.

  • Knowledge of CI/CD pipeline automation (Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, Jenkins).
  • High-level understanding of cloud data workflows and DevOps integration practices.
