We are currently seeking a Technical Consultant to join our Professional Services team, focusing on the technical aspects of SAS real-time decisioning and event stream processing technologies and solutions.


The successful candidate will be working alongside other experienced consultants in the Customer Intelligence space, providing expert consultancy support across the UK & Ireland region. Main focus will be on project delivery in addition to supporting Sales, Presales, Customer Support and Education.


The position will require working individually or as part of a team and will allow for a mix of client-site, office and home working. 


Key responsibilities:

  • Act as the SAS real-time decisioning and event stream processing technical lead for the UK&I Solutions Practice
  • Design and implement inbound campaign management and event stream processing projects based on customer requirements using SAS solutions
  • Installation and configuration of SAS software and additional third party components
  • Assist in scoping and defining work efforts, resource plans, and estimating cost on phases/projects.
  • Participate in project requirements gathering
  • Build strong relationships with both external customers and internal teams, such as other Professional Services teams, Customer Support, Product Management and R&D

Skills requirements:

  • Detailed understanding of designing and building systems geared for real-time decisioning, focusing on performance and scalability
  • Experience with web integration protocols SOAP and REST
  • Experience coding in structures and languages such as XML, C++, SQL, Java, Groovy, Python and Jython
  • Good understanding of event streaming concepts, technologies and platforms
  • Good understanding of data management and data access using ODBC or JDBC in support of real-time decisioning
  • Excellent working knowledge of multiple operating system architectures (Windows, Linux, AIX, Solaris, etc.).

Additional requirements:

  • Track record of successful consulting
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate with users with various technical backgrounds
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and professional attribute
  • A genuine interest for business and technical challenges
  • Strong problem solving and experience managing concurrent customer projects and assignments
  • Ability to work under pressure and deliver to deadlines
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally

Beneficial skills:

  • Strong academic record, including a degree or post-graduate qualification, ideally in Computer Science or equivalent
  • Experience in web and/or mobile inbound marketing
  • Experience with SAS Base programming
  • Experience with SAS Real-time Decision Manager or similar real-time decisioning platforms (Oracle RTD, Pega Decision Management, Epiphany Interaction Advisor, etc.)
  • Experience with SAS Event Stream Processing or similar platforms like Apache Storm
  • Experience with event streaming platforms like Apache Kafka
  • Experience with software-as-a-service (SaaS) deployments
