The Pre Sales team plays a vital role in the success of SAS being able to expand the business whilst servicing the customer and opening their eyes to endless possibilities through the use of SAS Solutions. When a sales person is finding opportunities with our customers and highlighting our value proposition, it is the Pre Sales Engineer who provides all the evidence. Pre Sales Engineers are technical and analytical individuals often specialized within specific solution sets or industry verticals. It is the role of the Pre Sales Engineer to gather the customer data and provide proof of concept work, run demos, explain and showcase the capabilities of the solutions and to architect a tangible solution that will address the customer’s needs.


A Pre Sales role with SAS offers opportunity to work in a customer facing role, to specialize in a skill area and to remain technical whilst constantly updating your skills. What we are looking for:

  • Proven and demonstrated success in pre-sales of software solutions
  • An understanding of the value proposition of analytics
  • Relevant industry experience primarily in Telco’s and Banking and Finance
  • Specialized skills in; Fraud and Financial Crime Solutions, Open Source Technologies, Analytics, Banking and Financial Services Domain experience or Public Sector experience
  • Passion for big data, analytics, cloud, fraud, risk, customer intelligence and other related solutions


To be successful in the role, you will have: 

  • A keen interest towards a pre-sales role, responsibility and challenges that comes with it. He / she should be a well-organized, confident, self-motivated, team player, resourceful, responsive, dependable, creative and innovative professional.
  • A tertiary degree/major in Business Analytics/Statistics/ Mathematics/Information System/Computing/Text Analytics.
  • Approximately 5-8 years of analytical work experience involving data acquisition/analysis, decision support, data mining, predictive modelling, text analytics, and operations analytics or from a software vendor, including demonstrated proficiency with analytical software. Alternatively, your experience may have been gained within a consulting practice or a professional services firm.
  • Experience with one of the above mentioned focus areas; Fraud and Financial Crime Solutions, Open Source Technologies, Analytics, Banking and Financial Services Domain experience or Public Sector experience. 
  • Hands-on experience and exposure to various analytics technics, methodologies, and approaches (including Big Data Analytics) are desired.
  • Working knowledge of SAS Analytics technologies are desired.
  • Good knowledge of SAS competitors are desired.


Some of your key responsibilities will include:

  • Proactively looking for creative ways to position the value of SAS analytical solutions by incorporating specific industry/domain expertise and business/functional knowledge.
  • Working closely with sales team to provide clarifications and answers to customer queries requiring deep product expertise on timely manner.
  • Carrying out Proof of Concepts/ Proof of Values to demonstrate how SAS technologies could meet customer requirements and deliver values.
  • Developing and maintaining comprehensive knowledge of SAS technologies and similar competitive technologies to effectively compares/competes and position SAS.
