About the job

As an Information Systems Engineer in the Platform and Service Design Engineering team, you will have the opportunity join a team of engineers that are developing a robust global Kubernetes platform to deliver self-service PaaS and application services to SAS teams and business units. You’ll be leveraging automation to build and manage services in the public cloud for our hosting business. This position will help guide the development, design and implementation of complex orchestration and platform systems in a very simple and elegant way. Supportability of the developed solution is required and part of the role. 

Experience: 4-6 Years

As a  Information Systems Engineer, you will:

• Learn every day and expect technology to drive a new status-quo.
• Provide Kubernetes platform service design for large-scale deployments and workloads.
• Design an operations model which allows resiliency and self-service for our business consumers.
• Build security into every aspect of your design.
• Collaborate across business units and lead discussions on use case and requirements for Kubernetes platform services that align with corporate research and development strategy.
• Take requirements from our SAS Cloud partners and turn them into service offerings
• Assess complex technical problems and take ownership of projects with minimal guidance.
• Utilize a diverse set of systems administration and programming skills to build and manage automated systems.
• Create and maintain current solution and architecture documentation.

Required qualifications

• You’re curious, passionate, authentic, and accountable. These are our values and influence everything we do.
• Experience developing, deploying, and supporting Kubernetes orchestration.
• Strong Linux system administration skills
• Experience with containerized services such as Docker, Kubernetes, and/or derivatives.
• Experience with modern coding languages such as Go or Python
• You have a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related quantitative field 

Nice to haves  

• Experience utilizing, deploying, and/or supporting IaaS platforms such as OpenStack.
• Experience with continuous integration and deployment methodologies using pipelines such as GitHub Actions, GitLab, Azure DevOps or Jenkins
• Experience with Networking and Security troubleshooting.
• Experience with performance analysis and design.
• Experience developing cloud solutions with security-by-design.

Other knowledge, skills, and abilities

• Builds trust and transparency through internal and external collaborations.
• Willing to participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation.
• Ability to troubleshoot complex networking problems.
• Experience in system operations.
