About the job

You will support day-to-day mission critical operations of SAS’ complex global compute environments. The Global Operations Center (GoC) Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) Operations team is responsible for maintaining operational stability of SAS’ global server systems (Linux/Windows) internal and hosting server (on prem and cloud) infrastructures. The engineer performs incident management, proactive operations, implements basic requests/changes and documents team procedures.

 Experience: 3-5 Years

 

Essential:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer information systems, Computer Science, or related quantitative field or related experience.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a heterogeneous, dynamic, customer-focused environment 
  • Experience with Redhat Linux and Windows operating systems, minimum experience 1 year with your primary OS.
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills on Windows Operating System and VMware.
  • Experience with Active Directory, Group Policies, DNS.
  • Support experience with virtualization technologies (preference of VMWare).
  • Experience with infrastructure architecture including Servers, Network, SAN/Storage and Backup Services to allow for efficient implementation and non-disruptive expansion and upgrades. 
  • Experience in scripting languages (Bash, Python, PowerShell, Perl, etc).

 

 

Primary responsibilities for this role include: 

  • Investigation and management of global and hosting Windows and Linux OS related incidents.
  • Proactive management of Windows and Linux OS infrastructure to help reduce reactive incidents.
  • Fulfill Windows & Linux related requests and change tickets.
  • Produce and maintain current documentation for areas of responsibility.
